HELENA (FRANZ) GOOSSEN
Helena (Franz) Goossen, daughter of George and Anna (Janzen) Franz, was born March 27, 1876 in McPherson County, Kansas. She reached the age of 90 years, three months, and four days.
Mother grew to womanhood in McPherson County. On March 7, 1905 she was united in holy matrimony to Gerhard A. Goossen. this union was blessed with one daughter and one son.
Soon after their marriage they moved to Hooker, Okla. where they spent eight years living under pioneer conditions. In 1913 they moved to the Corn, Okla. community where they spent the rest of their days.
As a young woman, mother realized her lost condition and accepted Christ as her Saviour, and upon the confession of her faith was baptized on Nov. 20, 1898 and received into the fellowship of the Buhler M. B. Church. After moving to Corn, Okla. in 1913 she was received into the fellowship of the Corn M. B. Church where she remained a faithful member.
In 1940 our parents retired from the farm and moved to Corn. In 1955 they moved to the Corn Home for the Aged.
God permitted our parents to spend happy years together. In 1955 they celebrated their 50th anniversary, and in 1965 their 60th anniversary.
Father was suddenly taken from mother's side in April 1965 by a heart attack. On Dec. 30, 1966 the Lord took mother to her eternal Home.
Of Mother's eight brothers and five sisters, only three brothers remain. She leaves to mourn her daughter, Anna, Mrs. Frank Kliewer, and son George, both of Corn, Okla.; three brothers, P. J., D. J., and L. J. Ffranz, all of Hillsboro, Kan; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
