● Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Lehigh Mennonite Church by Rev. Peter W. Goering for George Goossen Sr., 70, who died Friday evening at his home on route 3, Hillsboro. A native of Mrion County, Mr. Goossen married Marie Nickel in 1925 and they had lived in the Goessel community since that time. His widow survives, with two sons, George Jr. of Peabody and Arlo of Route 3, Hillsboro; two daughters, Mrs. Adolf Thiesen of Route 2, Newton, and Mrs. Harold Regehr of rural Buhler; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry J. and Frank Goossen of North newton; and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Lehrman and Mrs. Justina Schrag, both of Newton, and Mrs. Arnold Nickel of Oakley.
