MARGARET GOERZEN

Mrs. Margaret Goerzen, nee Warkentin, was born December 12, 1891, in the Sagradov Settlement, Russia, in the village of Schoenau. She came to the faith in her youth and was baptized in May, 1918. She was united in marriage to Jakob Heinrich Goerzen on February 19, 1913. In 1927 they came to Canada and celebrated their silver wedding in Ryley, Alberta and their golden wedding in Arnold, B.C. in 1963.

Mrs. Goerzen suffered her first stroke in 1963, and was hospitalized for 38 days. She had a second stroke on December 3 and responded to the call of her Lord on December 6. Her children were all present at her bedside at the time of her passing. The consolation of the family is expressed in the words of the apostle Paul in 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17.

She leaves to mourn, her husband, Jakob; four sons, John of Abbotsford, Jacob of Edmonton and Henry of Stony Place, Alberta, and Peter of Winnipeg; three daughters, Mrs. Dave (Margareta) Martens of Aldergrove, Mrs. Stanley (Justina) Wamp of Calgary, Mrs. Jacob (Tina) Goerzen of Edmonton; 28 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
