HERMANN CORNELIUS GOERZEN

In 1895, Hermann Cornelius Goerzen was born to Cornelius and Helena Goerzen in Nicolaidorf, Nolotschna, South Russia. He was saved at the age of 12 and baptized into the Evangelical M .B. Church.

After the death of his father, Hermann and his mother moved to Hirschau which gave him an opportunity to continue his education. He spent two years at Anadol Forestry in alternative service.

In 1924, Hermann married Susanna Warkentin, and this union was blessed with 2 daughters and 1 son. His oldest daughter, Frieda, died in infancy. In 1926 the family emigrated to Canada and established their home in Coaldale, Alberta. Hermann's mother died here, and a year later, in 1929, his wife also died.

Hermann was united in marriage with Helena Reimer in 1930. Their marriage was blessed with 3 sons and 1 daughter. In 1947 they moved to Kelowna, B.C., and after celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary his wife died in 1955.

In 1960, Hermann married widow Anna Klassen, and her two children joined the family. They retired in 1970 and moved to Clearbrook where they joined the M.B. Church.

In spite of good health, Hermann's heart began to fail in his last years, and on May 12, 1973, he died. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Anna Goerzen, 2 daughters, Martha (Mrs. George Fast) and Louise (Mrs. Earl Deglow), 4 sons, Henry, Walter, Rudy and Arthur, and their respective families; also his wife's children, Peter Klassen and Annie (Mrs. John Suderman), 19 grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
