MRS. SARA GOERTZ

(Mrs.) Sara Goertz was born in Altona, Molotschna, south Russia on February 2, 1899, the daughter of the Dietrich Thiessens. The family later moved to Alexanderpol, where she met Isaac Goertz. The couple both accepted the Lord and were baptized in 1919. They joined the Mennonite Brethren Church. In 1921 they were married. They experienced great difficulty in the first years of their marriage, including the death of a child in infancy, but managed to emigrate to Canada through Germany, arriving in 1930.

After several trying years, during which the Goertz's sought and found refuge in God, they purchased a farm near Arnaud, Mani· toba, and became part of the fellowship at the Arnaud Mennonite Brethren Church. In 1964 they retired in Winnipeg. Here again they enjoyed much fellowship with Christians and many blessings in the Elmwood Church.

Mrs. Goertz was concerned to serve the Lord. She was a faithful supporter of the Gospel Light Hour and its great prayer warrior. On May 9, after showing hospitality to some guests who had just departed, she collapsed and her spirit departed. A few days earlier she had shared with her husband that she was ready to.

Mourning her passing are her husband, Isaac; one son and family in Kitchener, Ont.; four daughters, two with families near Winnipeg, and two living at home; 14 grandchildren; one brother in Vancouver; two brothers in Russia; and many relatives and friends.
