Dies At Age 100

Moundridge, Kan. — Mrs. Katharina Goering, lifetime resident of this community who observed her 100th birthday last May 3, died Sept. 26 at the Memorial Home here. She was the widow of Andrew C. Goering.

Funeral services were conducted Sept. 28 at the Eden Mennonite Church.

KATHARINA GOERING

Katharina Goering was born to Peter A. and Maria Flickner on May 3, 1877 at Moundridge, Kan. and departed this life on Sept. 26, 1977, reaching the age of 100.

She lived in the Moundridge community all her life, receiving her education at Mound school. She was baptized and received into the fellowship of the Eden Mennonite Church, Moundridge, of which she remained a faithful member until her death.

On June 18, 1897 she was married to Andrew C. Goering who died on Feb. 24, 1967. They shared life's joys and sorrows almost 70 years.

As a housewife and mother she was a diligent worker. She enjoyed working in the vegetable and flower gardens and spent much time making quilts for the needy and for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In her retirement years she spent much time with the Evangelium Lieder song book, turning page after page singing the songs. She was delighted when children and grandchildren would join and sing along with her.

Survivors include three sons, Peter W. and wife Mary of Lehigh, Lester and wife Ruth and Orlo and wife Helen, all of Moundridge; three daughters, Fern and husband Roland Goering of Freeman, S. D., Emma and husband Everett McWilliams of Halstead and Sophie of Moundridge.

Preceing here in death were a son, two daughters, two grandsons and one great-grandson. — The Family.
