Daniel Goering, a resident of Monroe, Washington, for the past 24 years, pased [sic] away at his home on South Blakley [sic Blakeley] street, Monday evening, April 15, 1940.
He was born in Russia September 13, 18856, coming to the United States 66 years ago. He lived for many years in Kansas. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Goering; a daughter, Mary, at home; and two sons, Daniel and Jacob, both residing in Kansas, also five grandchildren, all of Monroe and six great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. J. D. Schwartz of Monroe; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He seemed to be in good health for he attended services regularly. About a week before his death he apparently felt that he would not live much longer, for he told some of his friends that he would soon go home to Jesus. Monday evening he died of a heart ailment, reaching the age of 83 years, 7 months and 3 days.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the First Mennonite church of Monroe. Rev. Lehmann spoke words of comfort by using the 14th chapter of St. John and also the 13tyh verse of Romans 10. The quartet sang "Face to Face" and "My Savior's Love for me."
