Two Fatal Accidents In Southern Manitoba

FARM TRAGEDIES CLAIM LIVES OF TWO YOUNG MEN ON SAME DAY

Winkler, Man. — Two fatal farm accidents have saddened the hearts of the Red River Valley Mennonite people.

On Wednesday, Sept. 26, at about 5:30 p.m. the 21-year-old John Ginter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Abram Ginter of the Waldheim district, ten miles southwest of here, was instantly killed when a 20-foot pipe he was helping to lower into a well, touched a 1000-volt overhead power line and electrocuted him.

Funeral services for the young man were held in the Sommerfelder church in Winkler Saturday afternoon.

Toward dusk on the same day at Blumenort, five miles west of Gretna, Kliewer Klaus Klassen, the 11-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Klassen, was fatally injured when he was run over by the tractor-dawn combine operated by his father. At the end of the day's work the young lad anxious to help his father, offered to unhitch the combine from the tractor. Understanding his son to say "O.K." the father started his tractor and fatally injured the boy. Rushed to the Altona District hospital, the young lad died an hour later.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Blumenorter church.
