Mildred Fay Gingerich

Mildred Fay Gingerich was born Nov. 16, 1906. She was taken into the home of her foster parents Simon and Lena Gingerich when an infant, thirty-three days old. She was an obedient child, always hopeful and encouraging to those about her.

She accepted Christ as her personal Saviour, sealing her vow with baptism on Oct. 26, 1919 and united with the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church at Wayland, Iowa, and remained a faithful member until death.

During six years of illness she manifested a patient and hopeful spirit. this spring (1927) she was taken to LaJunta, Colo., in the hope of receiving benefit from the climate, but for all that loving hands could do, she passed away September 27, 1927, at the age of 20 years, 10 months and 11 days.

She leaves her foster parents, one foster brother and a large number of acquaintances to mourn her departure.

Short services were held at LaJunta, Colo., conducted by brethren Jacob A. Heatwole and Allen H. Erb, after which the body was taken to Wayland, Iowa. The funeral was held at Sugar Creek church conducted by Daniel Graber, assited [sic] by brother Joe C. Brenneman of Kalona, Iowa.

Interment was made in the Sugar Creek cemetery. — Wayland (Iowa) News.
