NEWTON & VICINITY

● The former owner of Safari Gifts of North Newton, Dorothy E. Gingerich, 82, died Nov. 17 at her North Newton home. Funeral services were held on Nov. 20 at Bethel College Mennonite Church, North Newton, with Don Kaufman and Lloyd Boshart officiating. Burial was at Mennonite Cemetery, Croghan, N.Y. She was owner-operator of the gift shop from 1968 until 1983, and was well-known in this area for her Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls of which she had made and sold approximately 500. Survivors include one son, James, of Moundridge; one daughter, Marie (Mrs. Howard) Snider, North Newton; one brother, E. A. Moser, Wooster, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Naomi Boshart, Lowville, N.Y.; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Gingerich; a brother, Nathan Moser; and one sister, Mrs. Anna Widrick.
