Accident on Mountain Road Turns out Fatal.

Winton, Calif., Sept. 27. — A sad accident happened to one of our friends and resident of Winton, George W. Giesbrecht. He stayed with his son Arthur, who was working near Monterey. While there, Arthur and his father took a ride out into the mountains Sunday night. They wee driving on a very narrow road and while making a turn or driving around a curve, their car slid off the road and fell about 40 feet down the steep bank into a canyon. It lodged against a fallen tree or log and was smashed up badly.

The father suffered a broken back and was otherwise bruised, and after suffering intensely for about seven hours he passed away in the Monterey Hospital. The body was prepared for burial and shipped to Merced, where it will remain till Friday, Sept. 28, then will be brought to Winton for the funeral. The services will be conducted in our church house in Winton. Mr. Giesbrecht leaves a deeply grieved family of his dear companion, and daughter and six sons, who are grief stricken because of the sad accident and unexpected death of their loved one. — A. T. Koehn.
