SMALL CHILD LOSES LIFE BY DROWNING IN CESSPOOL

Lancaster, Pa., — Charles, 22-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy M. Gerlach of the Willow Street community, was drowned on June 13 when he fell into a partially completed cesspool at the Gerlach farm. Funeral services were held at the Pequea Brethren in Christ church on Monday afternoon, June 16.

The child’s body was found in the cesspool by the parents after he had been missed by the mother for only a few minutes. He was rushed to the hospital, but all efforts to revive him failed.

He is survived by the parents; the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Abram Sangrey, Conestoga; the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David Gerlach of Route 7, Lancaster; and his great-grandmother, Mrs. Grant Thatcher of Juniata county.
