CARRIE K. GERING

Carrie K. (Schrag) Gering, daughter of Jacob K. and Katherina (Gering) Schrag, was born, Sept. 1, 1881. She was baptized upon confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior on Oct. 30, 1895 by Rev. John Baer, and joined the Salem-Zion Mennonite Church near Freeman, S. D. She was married to Peter C. Gering on Jan. 10, 1901, and they spent most of their life farming near Starkweather, N. D. In 1919 they adopted Edith when she was two weeks old. They retired from farming in 1943 and moved back to Freeman, joining the Salem Mennonite Church.

Mr. Gering passed away on Nov. 1, 1952. Early on Dec. 23, 1961, Mrs. Gering suddenly passed on to be with the Lord, at the age of over 80 years.

Those surviving include the daughter, Edith, Butte, Mont., husband William Craig and five grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Anna Ries; two half-sisters, Mrs. Alvina Dalke and Mrs. Chris Pancratz; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Emil Schrag; two half-brothers, Chas. J. Schrag and Jacob J. Schrag, and those who though no blood relation, yet through a third marriage belong to the family, Mrs. Oliver Kaufman, Mrs. Wilmer Fensel and Henry X. Miller.
