text of obituary:

ADOLPH P. GERING

Adolph P. Gering was born at Freeman, South Dakota on Nov. 15, 1878. He passed away at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Graber in Soap Lake, Wash., on Saturday, March 5, 1955.

As a young lad he came west with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gering, who settled at Eugene, Oregon. Here he grew to manhood and was baptized upon confession of faith in Christ, and became a member of the Mennonite Church.

Mr. Gering was married to Elizabeth Schrag on June 1, 1889. Following the wedding they traveled, by covered wagon, to Lind, Wash. where they took up a homestead and established their home. Here they became charter members of the Mennonite church of Ritzville, Wash. in which he retained his membership until the time of his death.

Since 1934 he had made his home in Soap Lake, where he enjoyed the fellowship of the Community church. Mr. Gering has endeared himself to neighbors and friends through the years by his earnest Christian testimony and life. He always enjoyed singing the old hymns of the church and reading the Word of God in family worship. Prayer was a vital source of his life.

Mrs. Gering preceded him in death on Feb. 29, 1952.

Surviving are three children, Mrs. W. C. Rhea, Puyallup, Wash.; Mrs. Joe Graber, Soap Lake, Wash. and Ralph Gering, Ritzville, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. J. M. Schrag of Ritzville, Mrs. John C. Graber of Freeman, S. D.; six brothers, Jacob of Spokane, Wash., Frank of Colfax, Wash., Walter and Leon of Ritzville, and Clarence of Rapid City, South Dakota; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services were held on March 8 at Soap Lake, Wash. in the morning and at the Menno Mennonite church near Ritzville in the afternoon. Rev. Willard Wiebe of Ritzville and Rev. Winert of Soap Lake officiated at the interment in the Menno cemetery.
