Well Known Indiana Minister Called Away in Death April 7

REV. JOSEPH K. GERIG, 75, DIED AT HOME IN FT. WAYNE, INDIANA

Ft. Wayne, Ind. — Funeral services for Rev. Joseph K. Gerig, 75, well known minister of the Defenseless Mennonite conference, were held at the Woodburn church Tuesday, April 11. Rev. Gerig died at his home here Friday, April 7.

With Rev. Gerig's death has come to an end his outstanding career as minister, evangelist and city missionary. He was in charge of the Salem Mission in Chicago for 21 years, served as district superintendent for the Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan conference from 1932 to 1935 and for 18 months was engaged as evangelist for his conference. His sincerity and understanding nature won for him a wide circle of friends.

For a year and a half Rev. Gerig was pastor of the Pioneer, Ohio, church, later laying down his duties because of an heart ailment.

Among the immediate members of his family surviving are his wife and one daughter.
