Former Federal Worker Dies at 73 in Florida

Goshen, Ind.—Graveside services were conducted Monday, May 7 at Violett Cemetery here for Daniel S. Gerig, 73, who died in Venice, Fla. Apr. 29. Officiating was Virgil Gerig, pastor of the Hively Avenue Mennonite Church, Elkhart.

Daniel Gerig was born in Goshen, attended Wooster (Ohio) College, and received a Ph. D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin in 1933. He was employed 10 years for the International Labor Office of the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland and 20 years for the U. S. Social Security Administration in Washington, D. C. He retired in 1966 and moved to Florida shortly thereafter.

Survivors of the immediate family are his wife Enid and two sons — Stephen R., Cape Canaveral Fla.; and Thomas, Raleigh, N. C.
