Moundridge Youth Killed When Auto Hits Ditch, Overturns

Moundridge, Kan. — A one-car accident on a county road near here Sunday evening claimed the life of Joey N. Gehring, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Gehring of Moundridge.

The youth was riding in a sports car driven by Dennis Voth, 20, of Hesston and owned by Voth’s brother. Officers reported that is [sic] was the first time Voth had driven the car. As he came to a curve at a detour., he lost control and the car nosed into the ditch and flipped over on its top. Both youths were thrown out. Voth escaped serious injury.

Joey Gehring was a graduate at Moundridge High School and was employed as a machinist at the Bradbury Company here. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Eden Mennonite Church, with Dr. H. A. Fast and Rev. Wendell Rempel officiating.
