EDWIN R. GARBER

Edwin R. Garber, prominent farmer of the Bethel Mennonite church community, Fortuna, Mo., died Sept. 22, 1951, at the farm home where he was born and where he had spent the greater part of his life. He was aged 59 years, five months and seven days.

A son of William and Molly Garber, he was born on April 15, 1892. At the age of 19 he made his confession of faith in the Lord and united with the Bethel Mennonite church. He continued as a faithful member, and from 1940 until his death served as a member of the board of trustees.

On Dec. 5, 1919, he was united in marriage with Elizabeth Diener and to this union were born 14 children, 13 of whom survive him. The children are Lt. Raymond Garber, now stationed at Chanute Field, Ill.; Robert of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; Mrs. Walter Wullf, Cummings, Iowa; Dennis of Fortuna; Edwin Jr. of Versailles; Pfc. William Garber, now stationed at Biloxi, Miss.; and Ina Mae, Homer, Norman, Lena, Velma, Mary and Rosella of the home.

Besides his children he leaves his wife Elizabeth, four grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Alto Hilty and Mrs. Orlin Schumacher of Pandora, Ohio, and many other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Marie, two brothers Carl and William, and two sisters, Emma and Lydia Garber.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 25, at the Bethel church with the pastor, Rev. Erwin Albrecht, officiating. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
