— D. W. Galle, 83, long-time resident of the Moundridge community died at Mercy Hospital there on Monday. Funeral services were announced for Thursday afternoon at the West Zion Mennonite Church, with Rev. Harris Waltner and Rev. P. K. Regier officiating. Mr. Galle was a native of Washington County, Iowa. He is survived by three sons, Dale, Richard and Gilbert, all of Moundridge, two daughters, Mrs. Pete Block of Tucson, Ariz. and Mrs. H. F. Janzen of Hillsboro.

DAVID WILLIAM GALLE

David William Galle, son of Peter and Christine Krehbiel Galle, was born in Washington County, Iowa on March 29, 1874, and passed away Jan.20, 1958, at Mercy Hospital in Moundridge, Kansas, where he had been a patient five days. He lived to the age of 83 years, nine months and 21 days.

In 1877 he came to Kansas with his parents and they settled on a farm near Moundridge where he lived until he retired from farming ten years ago.

On Jan. 13, 1889, as a member of the first baptismal class, he joined the West Zion Mennonite Church of which the late Rev. William Galle was the pastor, where he remained a member until his death. He was active in church work and civic affairs.

He was united in marriage to Emma Toland on Sept. 25, 1904, by the late Rev. William Galle. They established their home in the Moundridge community.

He was preceded in death by his infant twin son, Robert; two grandchildren, Jane Galle and Tommy Janzen; one twin brother, William Galle; four sisters, Barbara Galle, Mrs. Anna Koller and Theresa Galle, all of Moundridge, and Mrs. Mary Huxman, Arnold, Kansas.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Emma; two daughters and their husbands, Fern and Pete Block,Tucson, Ariz.; Gwen and Dr. H. F. Janzen, Hillsboro, Kansas; three sons and their wives, Dale and Bertha Galle, Richard and Ruth Galle, and Gilbert and Maurine Galle, all of Moundridge, Kansas; 20 grandchildren and one brother, Jacob Galle, Donnellson, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Jan.23,1958, at the West Zion Mennonite Church. Rev. P. K. Regier and Rev. Harris Waltner were in charge of the services. Music was furnished by Mrs. Omer Rupp and a quartet composed of Omer Rupp, Alfred Meyer, Richard Huxman and John Warren Regier.
