MRS. ERNESTINA GAEDE

Ernestina Ratzlaff Gaede, daughter of John and Marie Ratzlaff, was born Dec. 31, 1878 in Marion County, Kansas.

On June 25, 1892 at the age of 14 years she was baptized by Rev. Wm. J. Ewert and was received as a member of the Brudertal Mennonite Church near Hillsboro, Kan.

On Sept. 4, 1902 she was married to Abraham A. Gaede of Hillsboro. This union was blessed with two daughters and four sons. Her husband and three sons preceded her in death.

Our father and mother had the joyous privilege of commemorating their 25th wedding anniversary in 1927 in Hillsboro, as well as their golden wedding anniversary in 1952 in Enid, Okla., and grace gave them almost three years more to enjoy together, having lived together 53 years less 18 days.

In 1904 they moved from Hillsboro to Hooker, Okla. where they filed for land and sojourned until 1912 when they moved back to Hillsboro, Kan. In 1916 they moved to Fairview, Okla. where they settled on a farm northeast of the city. While living near Fairview, on May 11, 1919, our parents joined the Sharon Mennonite Church near Orienta, Okla. where she remained a faithful member until her death.

In 1944 they moved to Reedley, Calif. where they stayed two years. In 1946 they moved to Enid, Okla. In 1953 they moved to Fairview, Okla. where she remained till her death.

Mother was very active. She enjoyed flower gardening and piecing and making quilts. In her relaxing moments, she would read her Bible and sing her favorite hymns. "Jesus Lover of My Soul," "All the Way My Saviour Leads Me," and many others, wherein she received strength and comfort for the day.

She quietly departed from this life, having reached the age of 86 years, 10 months and 28 days. She leaves to mourn her departure two daughters, Linda (Mrs. Harry Wichert), Dorothy (Mrs. Simon Warkentin), and one son, Clarence, of San Jose, Calif.; two daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. D. D. Wiebe of Reedley, Calif. and Mrs. Emil Wyand [sic Weyand] of Lehigh, Kan.; one aunt, Mrs. Sarah Ewert of Enid, Okla., besides a host of other relatives and friends.
