MRS. J. R. GAEDDERT

Mrs. Ardina Froese Gaeddert, daughter of Abraham P. and Suzanna Bergen Froese, was born Jan. 23, 1903, in Harvey county, Kansas. She was born and raised on the farm home of her parents not far from the Willis School. She attended the Willis School and completed her grade school work here.

With her parents she attended the Hebron church from childhood on, and here she learned to know Christ, Whom she accepted as her personal Saviour and Lord. She was baptised on Aug. 20, 1922,upon her personal confession, by Abraham M. Martens, and became a member of the Hebron Mennonite church where she remained a faithful member until her departure from this life.

On Nov. 5, 1922, she was uinited [sic] in marriage to her now sorrowing husband, Jacob R. Gaeddert. To this union were born five children, four girls and one boy: Lavina, Ruby, Sophie, Emma Jean, and Arlin Dean. The children were very close to her, and were her pride and joy. Together with her husband, she tried to bring them up in the love and admonition of the Lord. As a loving mother she was greatly concerned for the welfare, and particularly the spiritual welfare, of each of the children, praying that each one of them wold accept Christ as Saviour and become His follower. This was her prayer to the very end of here [sic] days.

With her husband she lived for a time after their marriage in the yard of her parents-in-law. Later they established residence two miles north and a half mile east of Inman, where they lived together happily and where her children grew to adulthood.

Although of a cheerful disposition, her life was not all a bed of roses, for her health was not good for several years prior to her death. Especially two years ago she became ill, and had to spend considerable time in the hospital. Medical doctors pronounced that she had suffered a stroke at that time. Friday, July 1, she became seriously ill again and was taken to the Bethesda hospital, Goessel. Her condition did not improve, and on Tuesday she suffered another stroke which resulted in her death on Wednesday, July 6, at about 8:40 in the evening.

She suffered vary severely in the last few days until the angel of death came to relieve her of all suffering and pain forever, and to take her to be with her Lord. She expressed herself several times, saying that she was ready to meet her Lord. When her pastor, Rev. O'Ray Graber, had devotions with her on Tuesday evening after a very hard day for her, she could speak only with great difficulty, but her words were clear when she spoke for the last time saying: "God is with us."

She leaves to mourn her departure her bereaved husband, Jake R. Gaeddert; four daughters, Lavina, Mrs. Sol Ediger and family of Buhler, Ruby, Mrs. Delmar Hill and family of Hutchinson, Sophie, Mrs. Allen Thiessen and family of Hutchinson, Emma Jean, Mrs. Ronald Ore and family of Oklahoma City, and Arlin Dean, of the home; and five grandchildren.

Her parents and one sister Huldah preceded her in death. She leaves two sisters Elizabeth, Mrs. H. H. Siemens of Buhler, and Rubina, Mrs. Adolph Neufeldt of Inman; three brothers, Curt Froese of Buhler, John Froese of Houston, Texas, and Art Froese of Buhler, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
