text of obituary:

SALOMON R. FUNK

Salomon R. Funk, son of Gerhard W. and Elisabeth Rempel Funk, was born on Feb. 25, 1895 in the Brudertal community, near Hillsboro, Kan. He spent his entire life in this community. He attended the Brudertal School and was baptized on June 1, 1914, upon his confession of faith by Rev. William J. Ewert, and received into the membership of the Brudertal Mennontie Church. In 1950 he transferred his membership to the First Mennonite Church in Hillsboro, and remained a faithful and active member of this church until his sudden and untimely death on May 9, 1961.

He was united in marriage to Esther Janzen on Aug. 27, 1919. To this union were born seven children, Allen of Hillsboro, Erwin of Monterey, Calif., Mrs. Rosella Voth of Hesston; LaVerne, Ralph and Wayne of Hillsboro, and Mrs. Elsie Miller of Fort Collins, Colo.

He leaves behind his bereaved wife, all the children, five daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, 26 grandchildren, two brothers, three sisters, and many other relatives and friends.

His last day among us was a happy one. After an active day of business and visiting with friends, he retired for the night, and sleeping peacefully he silently slipped from us into the glories of a new and better day.
