RUDOLF MARTIN FUNK

Martin Funk, our husband and father, was born in Beltersrot, Germany on April 22, 1888, and died at his home in Geary, Okla. on Jan. 20, 1961, reaching the age of 72 years, eight months and 29 days. His parents, were John and Katherine (Horsch) Funk.

In 1890 the family emigrated to America, arriving May 2. They first settled near Halstead, Kan. In 1900 they moved to Oklahoma where father settled on a farm southeast of Geary. Here he lived until we moved to Geary about three years ago.

On June 11, 1905 he was baptized upon his confession of faith by Elder J. S. Krehbiel and became a member of the First Mennonite Church of Geary, which membership he retained until his death.

On Dec. 6, 1914 he was united in marriage with Mary Carlile. This union was blessed with two children. Later a foster son joined the happy family circle.

Father was most happy in his work on the farm, and carried on even after his health began to fail and the work had to be taken over by younger hands.

He leaves to mourn his sudden death his wife Mary; two children, Lavetta, Mrs. Kenneth Van Gundy of Calumet, and Norman Lee and Maxine Funk, also of Calumet; one sister, Mrs. Katie Lehman of Geary; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Stella Funk of Denver and Mrs. Lydia Funk of El Reno; three grandchildren and four step-grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his foster son, Cleenan Massey, in 1955.

We mourn but not as those who have no hope. Father is at home with the Lord. — The Family.
