Mrs. Jacob Funk

Last Thursday morning the aged grandmother, Mrs. Jacob Funk of Butterfield passed away at the Bethel Hospital. She has suffered of high blood pressure and of a weak heart. Since last fall she has been living in the Old Peoples Home here. She reached an age of more than 79 years. Funeral services were held at the Bethel church on Sunday afternoon, with the Rev. D. P. Eitzen, N. F. Toews, and J. J. Balzer officiating.

Mrs. Funk, nee Block was born Aug. 30, 1851 in East Prussia and later moved to South Russia. She became the wife of Jacob Funk in 1874. This union was blessed with 5 children; two daughters, Mrs. Cnr. P. Eitzen and Mrs. Peter Rempel precede her in death. Her husband died Dec. 5, 1915. — They came to America in 1875 and lived 5 miles north of Butterfield. In 1901 they left the farm and moved to town.
