HELEN FROESE

Helen Froese of Chilliwack, B.C. passed away Nov. 30. She was born Nov. 9, 1910 to Abram and Aganetha Thiessen in Nikolayevka, southern Russia. She married Johann David Froese Nov. 17, 1928. They left the USSR in 1929 and reached Canada in 1930. They lived in Aberdeen, Sask., where Johann worked on a farm and she did housework. She accepted Jesus, was baptized and joined Aberdeen MB .. Church. In 1934 they moved to B.C. After a few months in Clearbrook, they moved to Greendale. She joined Greendale MB Church. (Johann joined in 1947.) She loved music, served in the senior choir and helped out as pianist. Her last 13 years were spent in Redwood Manor, Chilliwack, but she still enjoyed attending Greendale MB Church. Cancer was discovered this fall, and she celebrated her 80th birthday in hospital with all her children present. She is remembered for her love for the Lord and her love and devotion to her husband and family. Predeceased by her husband Nov. 29, 1971, 3 brothers and 1 sister, she is mourned by her daughter Charlotte Fischer of Nashville, TN; sons David and Elmer of Greendale, Edgar of Vancouver and Ben of Sardis, B.C.; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters.
