GEORGE JOHN FROESE

George John Froese of Winnipeg passed away Sept. 26. He was born Oct. 23, 1922 to Johann and Sara Froese in Ukraine, the eighth of 10 children. The family immigrated to Manitou, Man. At 20, he made a decision to follow Christ. He later met Anne Bergmann, with whom he shared his calling to show Jesus' love to people in a foreign land. They married Sept. 3, 1950. In 1954 they went to India, working in 2 hospitals under MBMS International. They learned much about the people they served and were amazed at what could be done with little equipment when God was there. In 1967 they returned to Canada. He worked with his brother in a medical clinic, retiring in 1987. He and Anne did short-term mission trips to Nepal and various parts of Manitoba. In 1997 he moved to a nursing home. Predeceased by son Daniel as an infant in 1959, he is mourned by Anne; children Kathy Baerg, John, Margaret Aikenhead, Tim and Andy; and 13 grandchildren. The memorial service was held Sept. 30 in Portage Ave. MB Church, Winnipeg.
