ABRAM HENRY FROESE

Abram Henry Froese was born to Mr. and Mrs. Heinrich Froese on March 20, 1883, in Alexanderheim, southern Russia. He made a personal commitment to the Lord in 1900 and was. baptized and received into the Mennonite Brethren Church in that same year.

He married Agnes Martens in 1908, and the following year they moved to Barwenkowo, where he began an apprenticeship in a flour mill. Four children were born to them there, three dying in infancy. In 1915 his wife also died in the widespread typhoid epidemic.

During the war he served with the medical corps on a Red Cross hospital train. He was married again in 1917 to Elizabeth Peters (nee Pauls), a widow, who had one daughter. Ten more children were born to this couple, two dying in infancy. In 1923 the family emigrated to Canada, taking up residence in Main Centre, Sask., before moving to Reinfeld, Sask., in 1925, where they farmed for 18 years and were members of the Reinfeld Mennonite Brethren Church. The family moved to a small farm in Abbotsford, B.C., in 1943. After their retirement in 1955 they moved once again to Clearbrook, B.C.

In January, 1970, they moved into the Tabor Home in Clearbrook, where his wife passed away that same year. He moved into the Menno Hospital in 1977, because of failing health, and it was there that he passed away into the Lord's presence on July 23.

Predeceased by his wife and two daughters in Canada, he leaves to mourn four sons and four daughters; Henry, Abbotsford, B.C. Abe and Miriam, Abbotsford, Dr. Dan and Margaret, Vancouver, John and Hilda, Clear brook, B.C., Ruth, Abbotsford, Betty (Mrs. Jake) Hooge, Clearbrook, Erna (Mrs. Clifford) Scott, Chilliwack, B.C. and Magdeline (Mrs. Henry) Martens, Yarrow, B.C.
