Abram Froese

Our father Abram Froese was born April 20, 1842 in Augustwalde County, Marienburg, West Prussia. At the age of 5 years his parents died. The kind heavenly Father provided a home for him with the minister Frank Klassen. He was baptized upon the confession of his faith in the year 1857 by the Elder John Quiring and became a member of the Tinsdorf Church. In 1870 he migrated to the province Samara, Russia. He traveled over several colonies in Russia, thereby he also came to Berdjansk, South Russia, where he was married on Dec. 15, 1870, to Ida Kaetter. In 1876 our parents immigrated with their children to America and came first to Ia. where the lived three months. From Iowa they moved to Kansas and made their home near Hillsboro and united with the Brudertal Church. From Kansas they moved to Abilene, Texas, where they lived three years. In 1893 they came to Cordell, Okla. where father took a homestead. Soon after that they had their membership transferred to the Sichar Church where he was a member in good standing. In January 1930 he took sick of cancer and dropsy and other complications. He was sick three months, and during the last two weeks he suffered great pain. He remained steadfast in faith. On March 29, 1930 death came and he was quietly taken home at the age of 87 years 11 months 9 days. He lived in holy matrimony 59 years 3 months and 14 days. Fourteen children were born to them, 7 sons and 7 daughters. Five of them preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife 9 children (6 daughters and 3 sons), 6 sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, 26 grandchildren, 4 great-grand-children and many friends and relatives.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. P. H. Unruh of Goessel, Kansas, Rev. Schmidt of Cordell and Rev. Jantzen of Bessie, Okla.
