WALTER HERMAN FRIESEN

Walter Herman Friesen died June 16. He was born June 8, 1908 in Hepburn, Sask., to Herman and Sarah Friesen. He helped his dad operate the grain elevator and worked at Monarch Lumber Co. in Hepburn. At 16 he accepted the Lord and was baptized, joining Hepburn MB Church in 1924. He married Martha Mandtler from Dalmeny, Sask. on Nov. 29, 1931. They lived in Rosthern, Sask., where he worked for Monarch Lumber. Because of the depression he was laid off and they moved to Hepburn, then to Saskatoon in 1938 and later to Regina where he worked with Great West Saddlery Co. They returned to Saskatoon until his retirement in 1974. They moved to Abbotsford in 1976. He was involved in choirs, quartets, the church treasury and the Men of Song in Central Heights Church. Devotions were important to him. He prayed that his family would all love the Lord. They remember him as a kind, gentle, soft-spoken man who welcomed friends and family into his home. In 2003 he moved to Menno Home. Predeceased by 4 brothers, 3 sisters, he is mourned by Martha, daughter Jeanette Voth; 2 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters.
