TINA FRIESEN

The daughter of Johann J. and Elizabeth (nee Esau) Friesen, Tina Friesen was born on December 18,1889 at Muntau, South Russia. After living in several places in Russia, the family moved to Canada in 1924, settling in Waterloo, Ont. Tina worked there for two years to repay the loan which brought her to Canada, and then moved to Winnipeg in 1927. While living in the Mary Martha Home she accepted Christ as her Saviour through the preaching of C. N. Hiebert, and was baptized shortly thereafter.

She did housework by the day in Winnipeg until 1942, when she took over full housekeeping duties at the Mary Martha Home, replacing Lena Isaak. She did her work faithfully and conscientiously. The girls who used to come to the home still talk of the delicious buns she baked.

When the Mary Martha Home was sold in 1959, sho moved to a home in Elmwood (Winnipeg) which she shared with Miss Anna Thiessen. In 1974 they both moved to Donwood Manor, and continued to assist each other. After a short illness Miss Friesen peacefully went to be with the Lord on April 12. The funeral was conducted from the Elmwood Church on April 15 with the brethren Eugene Gerbrandt and A. W. Schellenberg.

She leaves to mourn her sister, Margaret Kroeker and family, plus many friends.
