MRS. SARAH J. FRIESEN

Mrs. Sarah J. Friesen, 81, a resident of Dallas, Ore. since 1946, died April 30 at her home, 708 Lewis street. She had suffered a broken hip in a fall ten years ago and had been handicapped since.

Mrs. Friesen was born Feb. 8, 1878, in Manitoba, Canada, daughter of John S. and Lena Siemens. She married John Kraus at Jansen, Neb. Dec. 30, 1915. He died July 26, 1931, and she remarried Jan. 22, 1933, also at Jansen. Her second husband, Henry J. Friesen, died June 2, 1942, at Halstead, Kansas. She came to Dallas in 1946 and had lived here since Mrs. Friesen was baptized Aug. 16, 1896, and joined the E.M.B. church in Dallas Oct. 31, 1948. She was active in piecing and making quilts for the ladies' mission society as long as she was able to do so.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Katie Harms, who lived with her at 708 Lewis street, and several nephews and nieces.

Services were held Saturday afternoon at the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church with Rev. Arno Wiebe officiating. Burial was in Dallas cemetery.
