RETIRED BISHOP OF SOMMERFELDER CHURCH DIES AT WINKLER, MAN.

Altona, Man. — Funeral services were held at the Sommerfelder church in Winkler on July 18 for Rev. Peter M. Friesen, 55, retired bishop of the Sommerfelder Church of Manitoba who died July 15 of a heart ailment.

Rev. Friesen, who lived on a farm near Schanzenfeld, was ordained bishop in 1951 and served until ill health forced his retirement in 1955. He was succeeded by Rev. Johann Friesen of Lowe Farm.
