PETER FRIESEN

Peter Friesen, 79, passed away on March 12, in Dinuba, California. He was born in Herzenberg, South Russia, on October 1, 1888.

In 1913 he married the late Maria Wiens and together they risked emigration from Moscow to Germany and then to Canada, settling in Coaldale, Alta. In 1932 they came to Yarrow. B C., where he received assurance of salvation, was baptized and received into the Mennonite Brethren Church at Yarrow. In 1958 they retired to Chilliwack.

They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1963 and the following year his wife preceeded him in death. Two daughters, both on the mission field were able to come home on furlough before his passing. In the fall of 1966 he went to California to be with his children there. After much suffering the Lord released him and took him home. The remains were brought to Chilliwack for burial. Rev. Henry Warkentin officiated at the funeral.

He is survived by two sons, Peter, Yarrow, and John of Courtenay; six daughters. Mrs. Jake (Elizabeth) Enns, Abbotsford, Mrs. J. V. (Mary) Friesen, Ladner, Miss Ann Friesen, Japan, Miss Katherine Friesen, Thailand, Mrs. LeRoy (Agatha) Enns, Dinuba, Calif., Mrs. Kirk (Helen) Nelson, Kalispell, Mont.; twenty-five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, John, Chilliwack; one sister, Marie J. Isaac, California.
