MATILDA MIERAU FRIESEN

Matilda Mierau Friesen was born Sept. 8, 1914, near Henderson, Neb., to Cornelius J. and Maria Peters Mierau. She died Sept. 8, 1988, following a car-semi-tractor-trailer collision.

She received her elementary education at District No. 31. She graduated from Henderson High School in 1933.

She was baptized upon confession of faith by A. W. Friesen and joined Bethesda Mennonite Church, where she remained a faithful member all her life.

On Feb. 19, 1939, she was married to Abraham A. Friesen by A. W. Friesen.

She was employed for many years at Henderson Nursing Home, where she enjoyed her work. She also taught children's Sunday school classes and was a member of the church's sewing circle. She had a great concern for her family.

Upon retirement, she and her husband moved to Henderson.

She is survived by a daughter, Marlyce Miller of Freeman, S. D.; two sons and their wives, Lauren and Janet Friesen and Melvin and Grace Friesen, all of Goshen, Ind.; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Lizzie Epp of Henderson and Elma (Mrs. Howard) Buller of North Newton, Kan.; and two brothers, Alvin Mierau of Omaha and Cornelius Mierau of Henderson.

She was preceded in death by her husband in June 1987, a son-in-law, Max Miller, and a twin brother, Daniel Mierau.

Funeral services were held Sept. 11, 1988, at Bethesda Mennonite Church. Interment was in the church cemetery.
