MRS. MARGARET FRIESEN

(Mrs.) Margaret Friesen of Greendale, B.C., passed into the presence of the Lord on September 15. She was born on December 24, 1898 in Selonoje, Orenburg, Russia, the daughter of John and Margaret (nee Fast) Ewert. She accepted the Lord as her Saviour in 1914, was baptized and accepted into the Mennonite Brethren Church at Schoental, Siberia that same year.

Marriage to Dietrich Friesen followed on February 27, 1918. A long and happy marriage of almost 60 years was blessed with two daughters and eight sons. God also granted many spiritual blessings, allowing the Friesens to enjoy the fellowship of God's people wherever he led them. In 1929 they left Russia for Canada, eventually settling on a farm near Frontier, Saskatchewan. In 1937 they moved to Foam Lake, Saskatchewan and then in 1943 to Greendale, B.C., their home for the past 34 years.

Mrs. Friesen suffered illness and underwent surgery many times during her lifetime. Her passing came unexpectedly, however, when she suffered a heart seizure after returning home from a prayer meeting. At the time her husband was recovering from surgery in the hospital, and to her last day she faithfully prayed, visited and attended to his needs. Through her life a verse that was especially meaningful to her was Romans 14:8. The family rejoices in the memory of her victorious faith and her quiet departure.

Left to mourn are her beloved husband, Dietrich; two daughters, Margaret (Mrs. Jake) Hamm and Frieda; six sons and their wives, Dietrich and Dorothy, John and Tillie, David and Jean, Peter and Erna, William and Joan, Abe and Diane; a daughter-in-law, (Mrs.) Hilda Friesen; two sisters, (Mrs.) Maria Loewen and (Mrs.) Anna Nachtigal; three brothers, Peter, John and Gerhard Ewert; 25 grandchildren; six great·grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
