WELL KNOWN LUMBER DEALER OF MANITOBA COMMUNITY DIED

Gretna, Man. — Funeral services were held here for Jacob L. Friesen. 74, well-known retired lumber merchant of this district, on Aug. 13 in the chapel of the Mennonite Collegiate institute. Rev. Jacob Friesen officiated, assisted by Rev. J. H. Peters and Rev. P. J. Schaeffer.

Born on the Friesen homestead south of Niverville on Sept. 29, 1876, he entered the lumber business in Gretna at the age of 25. On October 11, 1903, he married Maria Friesen who, together with three sons and six daughters, survives him. He was an active supporter of the M.C. I. and other community projects.

The surviving children are Mrs. J. D. Siemens, Altona; Mrs. Peter Brown, Winkler; Dr. Rhinehart Friesen, Winnipeg; Margaret at home, and Henry and Edward, carrying on the lumber business; Mrs. F. J. Harder, Winnipeg; Mrs. Ben Giesbrecht; and Mrs. K. Watts, Cartwright.
