JACOB H. FRIESEN

Jacob H. Friesen of 4901 Coghland Road, Aldergrove, B. C. passed away Tuesday morning, June 18, in Langley Memorial Hospital at the age of 84 years.

Born in West Prussia, Germany in 1873, Mr. Friesen came to America at the age of 16, moving to Gretna, Man. in 1894 and later to Saskatchewan, where he lived the greater part of his life. He and his wife came to Langley five years ago.

Mr. Friesen received his education at Bethel College, Newton, Kan., and at Gretna, Man. and Prince Albert, Sask. After graduation from Regina Normal School, he taught in rural Saskatchewan for over 20 years. He was postmaster at Hague, Sask. for 38 years, retiring in 1949.

Mr. Friesen was active in the Rosenort Mennonite Church and for many years served as organist and Sunday School teacher in the church at Hague.

Mourning Mr. Friesen's passing are his wife, the former Miss Helena Friesen whom he married at Rosthern, Sask. 55 years ago; two sons, Walter of Coghland Road and Arnold at Prince Albert, Sask.; six daughters, Miss Helen in Toronto, Mrs. Menno (Martha) Hooge of Winkler, Man., Mrs. Ed (Eva) Kehler in Winnipeg, Man., Mrs. Allan(Esther) Lord in Victoria, Mrs. Ed (Elsa) Sadkowski of Victoria, and Mrs. Henry (Erna) Wall of Winkler, Man.; 16 grandchildren; and four brothers and five sisters. — The Family.
