JACOB C. FRIESEN

Jacob C. Friesen passed away May 23, 1959, in the Linton Nursing Home, Sterling, Ill., after an extended illness complicated by diabetes. Funeral services were held May 26 in the Nelvin Funeral Home conducted by Minister Elmer Sidig and Minister Edward F. Stouffer. Burial was in the Reformed Mennonite Cemetery, Sterling.

Mr. Friesen was born Feb. 4, 1881, in Jansen, Nebr., son of Isaac B. and Catherine Classen Friesen. He was united in marriage with Kate Bartel in Jansen on Nov. 22, 1903. Mrs. Friesen passed away Aug. 18, 1938, in Fairbury, Nebr.

For many years Mr. Friesen was employed by the Rock Island Railroad in Fairbury and later transferred to Peoria, Ill., retiring in 1946.

His wife, parents, two daughters and one son preceded him in death.

Surviving are six daughters: Mrs. Teena [Katherine] Peters and Mrs. Nick G. (Isabelle) Cunningham of Rock Falls, Ill., Mrs. Carlton (Ruth) Fisher and Mrs. Ed R.(Beverly) Bowers of Sterling, Ill., Mrs. Floyd (Lesa) Carter of Des Moines,Iowa and Mrs. Carl (Edna) Martin of Little Rock, Calif.;five sons, Andrew of Inglewood, Calif., Theodore of Hastings, Nebr., Leonard Frank of Arcadia, Calif., Jacob C. Jr., of South Gate, Calif., and Isaac B. of Azusa, Calif.; four brothers and two sisters, Abraham of Galesburg, Ill., John K. of Arcadia, Calif., Henry C., Long Beach, Calif., Frank C. of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Katherine Ratzlaff of Sterling, and Mrs. Hudson (Margaret) Hill of Torrance, Calif.; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
