AGATHA FRIESEN

Agatha Friesen of Winkler, Man. passed away Aug. 13. She was born Mar. 27, 1895 to Henry and Helen Enns in Rosthern, Sask. Her early years were spent in Reinland, Man. before the family settled on a farm near Winkler. Growing up in a large family, she was kept busy with the household chores and soon became proficient at sewing. She grew up in a Christian home, accepted Christ during evangelistic meetings and at 18 was baptized and joined the MB church. While working at the Ninette Sanitorium, she met, then married Peter Friesen on June 8, 1922. An interest in reading and writing was helpful when Peter entered the printing business. She became his assistant and continued her involvement in the printing trade until 80 years of age. Together with Peter, they went through many ups and downs, but she reflected that the Lord had been with them all the way. She also used her talents to sew many articles for the Red Cross, the local hospital and MCC. She will be remembered for her numerous articles of fancy work. Predeceased by her husband in 1983, she is mourned by sons Harvey of Winkler and Ken of Kenora, Ont.; daughters Katherine Loewen and Lillian Collins of Maple Ridge, B.C., Florence Edwards of Lac du Bonnet, Man. , Mabel Friesen of Alberta and Deanna Kohanik of Winnipeg; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 1 sister. The funeral was Aug. 17 in Winkler MB Church, with Herman Voth and Jake Neufeld ministering.
