MARY E. FREYENBERGER

Mary (Oswald) Freyenberger, daughter of the late John and Verena (Roth) Oswald, was born April 4, 1878, near Morton, Ill. She passed away May 22, 1958, age 80 years, one month and 17 days.

At the age of nine she with her parents moved to Aurora, Neb. where she grew to womanhood and accepted Christ as her Saviour, whom she served faithfully until death.

On Jan. 22, 1902, she was united in marriage to Menno Freyenberger, who preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 1953. After their marriage they resided on a farm near Wayland, Iowa, and lived in this community all their life.

This union was blessed with five children, three daughters and two sons, Alta (Mrs. Gay Cunningham) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Ada (Mrs. Ivan Wyse), Lulu (Mrs. Lloyd Roth) and Ezra, all of Wayland, and Edwin who preceded her in death on July 20, 1955. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.

She is survived by three daughters, one son, 19 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are six brothers, Will, Dan, John, Theodore, Aaron and Carl, and four sisters, Clara Krabiel and Lina Oswald, all of Aurora, Neb., Catherine Slagle of Detroit, Mich. and Ada Repp of Pioneer, Ohio.

She was always interested in the welfare of the church, home and the community in which she lived, and was always ready to lend a helping hand where needed. The memories of Mother and Grandmother will always be pleasant and greatly cherished, not only by her family, but by all those who knew her.

Funeral services were held at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church May 24 at 10:00 a. m. in charge of her pastor, Rev. Simon Gingerich.
