SARA LU FREDERICK

Sara Lu Frederick, 78, of Eugene, Ore., formerly of Wellman, Iowa, and Iowa City, Iowa, died March 23, 2010, of age-related causes. She was born Feb. 7, 1932, to Joseph and Barbara Graber in Wayland, Iowa.

She graduated from Wayland High School and attended Goshen (Ind.) College. She married Charles Frederick II on Aug. 8, 1953. She was an elementary school teacher, homemaker, and co-owned Unto Others, a gift store in Kalona, Iowa.

Survivors include her husband, Charles; two sons, Charles Frederick Jr. of Bloomington, Ind., and Peter Frederick of Hamilton, Mont.; three daughters, Catherine Roth of Eugene, Christine Frederick of Jasper and Mary Frederick of Panama City, Panama; four sisters, Rachel Wyse of Wellman, Iowa, Berniece Roth of Laguna Woods, Calif., Lois Swartzendruber of Wellman, Iowa, and Beulah Mae Swartzendruber of Wayland, Iowa; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Burial will be in Sugar Creek Mennonite Church cemetery in Wayland. A memorial service will be held May 2 at First Mennonite Church in Iowa City.
