Martin L. Franz

Martin L. Franz was born July 30, 1896, at Freeman, South Dakota, son of Peter and Susan Franz. In his early childhood his parents moved to Kansas where he spent his boyhood years. They lived at Syracuse and Plains, Kansas, and also Nowata, Oklahoma. On September 4, 1918 he was united in marriage with Agnes Martens, daughter of D. D. Martens of Hooker, Oklahoma. During this short and happy life they have lived both in Hutchinson, Kansas, and at Hooker, Oklahoma. To this union four children were born. Besides his beloved wife he leaves his mother, four sisters, three brothers and a host of loving neighbors and friends. During the last year he has complained of stomach disorders, which led to complications, finally and quite speedily causing his death on Sunday, Aug. 3, at 5 P.M. He reached the age of thirty-four years and four days. In April of 1923 he and his loving wife were converted and in June were baptized and united with the Mennonite Church at Hooker, Oklahoma. During his last days Martin suffered much physically, however spiritually he was richly blessed patiently waiting to be called to his eternal home of bliss and peace.
