Our dear mother, nee Schroeder, was born May 22, 1863, at Deutch-Wimischili, Polen. In 1876, at the age of 13 she with her parents, brothers and sisters, came to the United States and settled a few miles north of Hillsboro, Kansas.

In 1880 she was united in marriage with John Frantz. During their first year of married life they were both converted and baptized by Rev. Abraham Schellenberg and affiliated with the Mennonite Brethren church at Hillsboro. Since they changed their residence to Durham they joined the M. B. church there. In 1912 they retired from active farm life and made their home at Hillsboro, Kansas.

Their union was blessed with 11 children, seven sons and four daughters, of whom two sons and one daughter died in infancy. On July 9, 1920, our father was called to his eternal reward. It is the privilege of all of her surviving children to be present at the funeral to pay their last tribute to her.

Our dear mother had been ailing for years and consequently was obliged to spend the greater part of her time at home, where she faithfully and unretiringly served her family. In September 1927 she changed her home from Hillsboro to Durham, Kansas, where she lived with her oldest son until her death.

For several weeks she had been suffering from a severe cold, which several days before her death was complicated with heart and kidney trouble, which were the immediate causes of her death. On the morning of March 3, her prayer that her Master should call her home was almost unexpectedly realized.

She has been a loving Christian mother and we are thankful for the hope that we shall again meet her in the land beyond. Her death is mourned by 8 children, 3 sons-in-law, 5 daughters-in-law, 5 sisters, 2 brothers, 37 grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.

The Children
