MARY L. FLY

Mary Landis Fly, daughter of Samuel O. and Anna (Rosenberger) Landis, was born on Feb. 9, 1920, on the Isaac Landis homestead, New Britain Township, Bucks Co., Pa. She departed this life on Nov. 26, 1985, at the age of 65.

She was married to Harold M. Fly on Feb. 7, 1942, at the Finland (Pa.) Mennonite Church.

She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at the age of 14 and was baptized by Bishop A.O. Histand into the membership of the Doylestown Mennonite Church. A short while later her mother suddenly died and she soon found herself in some adult roles in family life.

In her early youth she deeply sensed a special call to service in the Lord's work. This was later fulfilled as she faithfully served in the ministry of her husband for 39 years. She was known everywhere for her compassion and dedication as well as her unusual hospitality. It is estimated that 1,400 persons were present at her viewing and funeral service.

Survivors include her husband, Harold; a daughter, Carolyn (Mrs. Merle) Shantz of Red Lake, Ont.; two sons, Maurice L. and Mark L. of the Lancaster, Pa., area; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Norman Landis; and a sister, Laura Mae (Mrs. Orville) Moyer.

Funeral services were held on Nov. 29, 1985, at the Salford Mennonite Church, Harleysville, Pa., with interment in the Towamencin Church cemetery.
