PETER J. FLAMING

Peter J. Flaming, son of Rev. and Mrs. John Flaming, was born March 10, 1888, in McPherson, Kan. and went to his eternal home April 2, 1958, having reached the age of 70 years and 23 days.

On August 30,1893, when he was five years old, his parents moved to Oklahoma and settled on a homestead north of Corn.

On March 23, 1915, he was baptized upon his confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and united with the Bergthal Mennonite Church near Corn, Okla.

On Nov. 21, 1915, he was united in marriage to Helen Wiebe. Their home was blessed with four daughters and seven sons besides three children who died in infancy.

After having spent most of his life in the Corn community, with the exception of 14 years in Perryton, Texas, the family moved to Clinton in 1948. Here he enjoyed the fellowship of the Mennonite church, which he and his wife also joined April 14, 1957.

While in the hospital he expressed the testimony that “The Lord was his shepherd.” He loved his family, children and grandchildren and often expressed a concern for them. May this concern lead each one of the family to a closer walk with the Lord.

He leaves to mourn his departure his beloved wife, Mrs. P. J. Flaming; four daughters, Goldie, Mrs. Edwin Neufield [sic Neufeld] and family of Weatherford, Okla., Bertha, Mrs. Kenneth McLain and family of Perryton, Texas, Martha, Mrs. Carl Borcher and family of Cordell, Okla., Luella, Mrs. Charlie Morrison and family of Waco, Texas; seven sons, Virgil Flaming and family of Canyon, Texas, Marvin Flaming and family of Perryton, Texas, Orville Flaming and family of Borger, Texas, John J. Flaming and family of Syracuse, Kan., Harvey Flaming of Clinton, Okla., Jerry and Larry Flaming of the home; five brothers and three sisters, Herman Flaming of Clinton, Ernest Flaming of Reedley, Calif., Fred, Alvin and Clarence Flaming of Weatherford, Okla., Mrs. H. N. Kroeker of Corn and Mrs. G. N. Kroeker of Clinton, Okla.; 17 grandchildren and a host of relatives, neighbors and friends.

Funeral services were held in Clinton, Okla. April 5 by his pastor, Walter H. Regier, assisted by Rev. Henry Hege.
