Tetanus Proves Fatal To Paraguay Youth

Colony Bergthal, Paraguay. — One of several cases of tetanus in this eastern Paraguay Mennonite colony claimed the life of nine-year-old Johnny Fehr, son of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Fehr.

The youth developed an infection after pricking his foot with a nail. About four days after the incident he woke up with swelling in the throat. His parents rushed him to the Braun Sisters hospital here, and they to a hospital in Asuncion, but he died the following evening.

Besides the parents, he leaves four sisters and three brothers.

Earlier, three-year-old Peter Hildebrand was hospitalized after becoming ill at his home, and the illness was diagnosed as a tetanus infection due to a scratch on the foot. however, he is recovering.
