Former Canadian Mill Owner Died Recently in Paragay [sic Paraguay]

D. K. FEHR WAS MILLER AT ALTONA, MANITOBA, FOR TWENTY-SEVEN YEARS

Altona, Man. — David K. Fehr, aged 65 years and eight months, passed away at his home in Colonia Menno, Paraguay, on November 19, 1943, after an illness of seven years. The last four years he had been confined to bed.

Mr. Fehr and his brother, Isaac, owned the local flour mill here from 1900 to 1927, when they moved to Paraguay with their families. A son, John, and one daughter, Susie, later returned to Canada.

Mr. Fehr was a well known and respected citizen of this town. He served as school trustee for many years and was on the board of directors of the Mennonite Educational Institute.

Mr. Fehr was born near Rosenfeld in 1878 and moved to Altona in January, 1900, when he married Susan Siemens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Siemens, Weidenfeld.

Funeral services were held on November 20. Surviving, besides his widow, are seven children and 27 grandchildren. Children are: Sara (Mrs. J. P. Lowewen, Rosenfeld); David, Paraguay; John, Winnipeg; Jacob, Paraguay; Susie (Mrs. J. R. Friesen, Abbotsford); Annie (Mrs. Ben Toews, Paraguay); Ben, Paraguay. Two sons preceded him, Ed. died in April 1910, and Pete in August 1939. — Altona Echo.
