M. B. PASTOR SUCCUMBS TO HEART FAILURE

Mt. Lake, Minn., Jan. 16. — Rev. Peter Fast, a resident of this community since 1924, previous to which time he made his home in South Dakota, was the victim of heart failure last Friday evening, just after he had started the car to go to the M. B. church for a prayer meeting. He had started the machine, and ws getting ready to make the drive to the church, when suddenly he lurched forward in his seat, and in a few moments, life had fled. A previous heart attack on January 5, 1928, from which he recovered had been the only warning of his impending fate.

The deceased was born in South Russia on August 14, 1862, and came to this country in 1884, settling on the bleak South Dakota prairie, in the vicinity of Parker. In 1884 he was married to Katharine Born, who now remains to mourn his death. After 1889, when he was taken into the church, he was very active in the affairs of the Silver Lake congregation near Dolton, as deacon and as leader. He continued this work until his infirmities made it advisable to leave South Dakota and move to Mountain Lake. Since that time, however, he and Mrs. Fast have often returned to their old home to visit, and many South Dakota friends have been guests at their home here. Thus was the case just before his death, when Mrs. Abr. Fast, Mr. and Mrs. Abr. A. Fast and J. J. Adrian were guests at their home here. A happy afternoon had been enjoyed with their South Dakota guests and with neighbors and relatives here on the day of his death.

The deceased reached the age of 67 years, 4 months and 26 days. He leaves to mourn his death his widow, one brother in Herbert, Sask., and a number of nephews and nieces, as well as many friends. — Mt. lake Observer.
