DAVID H. EWERT

David H. Ewert was born Aug. 3, 1881 to Heinrich and Susanna nee Dick Ewert in Carson Township, Minnesota. Early in life he realized the need of salvation and accepted Christ as Savior. Aug. 4, 1904 he was baptized by Elder Heinrich Voth and taken into the Carson Mennonite Brethren Church of which he remained a faithful member all his life.

March 14, 1907 he entered holy matrimony with Agatha Baerg. This union was blessed with 13 children. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1957.

On May 8, 1961 he went to his heavenly reward, having reached the age of 79 years, nine months and five days.

Father enjoyed good health most of his life. Earlier in life he suffered acutely from a disorder which he committed to the Lord and the Lord heard his prayer and restored his body. This experience served as a guidepost to his faith in God. He lived unselfishly and put heart and soul into his work. He retired from active farm work and management in 1953 when his health was beginning to fail.

In June 1960 he suffered an attack which affected his left side. Much of his time the last five months was spent in bed.

He had keen church and civic interest. He was a Sunday school teacher for many years and served as member of the board of trustees, custodian and as member of the Bible School board.

He leaves to mourn, his wife, twelve children (seven sons and five daughters), Susie, Mrs. Will Schroeder, Rockford, Ill.; George, Mt. Lake; David, Bingham Lake; Mary, Mrs. Theodore Lepp, Mt. Lake; William, Millersburg, Ohio; Jacob, Corn, Okla.; Henry, Bingham Lake; Lena, Bingham Lake; Abe, Bingham Lake, and Adam, Metairie, La.; seven daughters-in-law and the sons-in-law. Also remaining are one brother, Klass [sic Klaas], Moosejaw, Sask.; his twin sister Mrs. H. H. Flaning [sic Flaming], Delft; thirty-three grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. on May 11 in the Carson M. B. church, with Rev. G. S. Warkentin and Rev. H. E. Wiens officiating. Interment was in the Carson M. B. cemetery. — The Family.
