LONG LIFE OF NINETY SEVEN YEARS CAME TO A CLOSE LAST WEEK

Mrs. Leah Erb, one of the oldest residents of Newton, perhaps the oldest, passed away last week at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. W. Swim at 601 West 12th street.

Mrs. Erb reached the age of 97 years.

Born in Pennsylvania in 1842, Mrs. Erb came to the Newton-Hesston vicinity 54 years ago. Her husband died here in 1908.

Funeral services were held in Newton last Thursday by Rev. Vernon Wilcox, pastor of the Nazarene church, and at the Pennsylvania Mennonite church, where Rev. Allen Erb, superintendent of the Mennonite Hospital and Sanatorium at LaJunta, Colo., was in charge.

Burial took place in the cemetery at Zimmerdale.
